Eyewitness video showed police gathering at Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood on Monday (June 22) during a shooting incident that left three dead.

Video shot from a balcony of a building adjacent to where the incident occurred showed police vehicles arriving, as well as police officers breaking the glass of a door to a supermarket.

Reuters was able to confirm the location of the footage from buildings, road layout and business signage that matched information on the file’s metadata, as well as archival and satellite images. Date of the footage was confirmed from the file’s metadata and Montreal police press conference, which was held at the location of the shooting on Monday.

Montreal Police Chief Fady Dagher said a citizen called 911 to report someone shooting from a building, and when officers arrived a crossfire erupted. The suspect used what Dagher described as a long-range weapon. No other suspects were believed to be at large. Police said the victims were a police officer, a civilian and the suspected assailant.
