King Frederik of Denmark greeted well-wishers from the balcony of the royal palace in Copenhagen to celebrate his 57th birthday on Monday (May 26).

The Danish monarch was joined by his family on the balcony of the Amalienborg palace in the heart of the Danish capital, waving to a crowd of well-wishers gathered in the square below.

Denmark's Royal Life Guard, in their red dress uniforms, also marked the occasion with a parade.

King Frederik, who succeeded his mother Queen Margrethe in 2024, is Denmark's head of state but does not hold formal political powers.
