L610-EEUU TRUMP ENVIO DE ARMAS A UCRANIA

14 de julio 2025 - 10:46

Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, Estados Unidos

STORY: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday (July 14) he will send Patriot air defence missiles to Ukraine, adding that they are necessary to defend the country because Russian President Vladimir Putin "talks nice but then he bombs everybody in the evening."

Trump declined to say how many Patriots he plans to send to Ukraine, but said the United States would be reimbursed for their cost by the European Union. The U.S. president has grown increasingly disenchanted with Putin because the Russian leader has resisted Trump's attempts to negotiate a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has asked for more defensive capabilities to fend off a daily barrage of missile and drone attacks from Russia.

Trump is scheduled to meet with NATO Chief Mark Rutte in the coming days in Washington D.C., who is visiting from July 14-15.

3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:

“Well, I'm going to have a meeting with the (NATO’s) Secretary General (Mark Rutte) who's coming in tomorrow, but we basically are going to send them (Ukraine) various pieces of very sophisticated military. They're going to pay us 100% for them. And that's the way we want it. And we've been trying to get that to get, I don't think (former U.S. President Joe) Biden ever asked for that. But we're in for about 350 billion. Europe is in for a hundred billion. That's a lot of money, 100. But they should be in actually for more than us. So as we send equipment, they're going to reimburse us for that equipment. Doesn't that sound good? That's the way it should have been a long time ago.”

4. TRUMP SPEAKING TO REPORTERS

5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:

“I haven't agreed on the number yet, but they're going to have some because they do need protection. But the European Union is paying for it. We're not paying anything for it, but we will send it, it'll be business for us, and we will send them Patriots, which they desperately need, because (Russian President Vladimir) Putin really surprised a lot of people. He talks nice and then he bombs everybody in the evening. So there's a little bit of a problem there. I don't like it.”
