L074-MALTA NAUFRAGIO MIGRANTES CON 11 MUERTOS
Footage released on Monday (June 8) by the non-governmental organisation Sea-Watch showed rescue operations following the capsizing of a migrant boat in waters off Malta.
At least 11 people died, according to the NGO.
The vessel, which had departed from Libya carrying around 60 people, overturned about 45 nautical miles east-southeast of Malta, the Italian coastguard said on Sunday (June 7).
The coastguard said rescuers had recovered 10 bodies, while a fishing boat in the area had rescued around 48 survivors, out of about 60 people reported to have set off.
Sea-Watch said that it remained unclear how many people were still missing.
The Italian coastguard said on Sunday (June 7) it had "immediately" dispatched a patrol boat to the area.
