L073-JERUSALEN MILEI CANTA LA CANCION LIBRE
Argentinian President Javier Milei delivered a vocal performance during a rehearsal for Israel’s Independence Day ceremony on Sunday (April 19) after being surprised with the song “Libre,” a track often associated with his political campaign.
The Argentine leader was seen quickly joining in, to sing along with two performers in what Israeli media said was a tribute to the president rather than part of the official ceremony.
Milei who arrived in Israel on Sunday (April 19), is expected to take part in the official Israeli Independence Day torch-lighting ceremony on Tuesday night (April 21), where he is set to light a ceremonial torch.
During the rehearsal, Milei delivered the traditional torch-lighting text in Hebrew: “for the glory of the State of Israel,” in line with protocol and tradition. He then approached the front of the stage and lit the torch.
While the ceremony, which concludes Memorial Day events and launches Independence Day celebrations will be broadcast live, Milei’s segment was pre-recorded, as he is expected to depart on Tuesday, Israeli media said.
However, the rehearsal, also attended by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu, was pre-recorded protectively this year due to the ceasefire with Iran and concerns over the renewal of war.
