Storm Boelo brought strong winds and rain to parts of the UK on Sunday (October 25), as weather warnings remained in place for parts of northern England and Scotland.

Heavy rain was expected to move from the west through Saturday (October 24) as wind strength builds with gusts between 70 mph and 80 mph in exposed areas, the Met office said.

Residents in the Cumbrian coastal town of Maryport reported 'colossal' damage, as waves crashed over the sea harbour.

The storm disrupted air and train travel in affected areas.

82,600 people in Britain faced power cuts, according to the Energy Networks Association (ENA).
