STORY: An airstrike hit a building in the Lebanese capital Beirut, causing smoke to fill the nearby street and debris to fall from the damaged building, video posted on social showed on Monday (March 9).

The location of the video was confirmed as Beirut, Lebanon from the buildings, road layout and vegetation which matched satellite and file imagery of the area. Coordinates of the strike site: 33.85603494779927, 35.5204514797422.

The date was verified as Lebanese media reported the strike happened March 9 and multiple videos were posted online of the strike and its aftermath on March 9. No old versions of the video were found posted online before March 9.

The Israeli military also launched a wave of strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut on March 9, military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on X.

The Israeli military reiterated warnings to Beirut residents to leave the southern suburbs on Monday, and announced it would act against a Hezbollah financial institution, Al-Qard Al-Hassan.

Nearly 400 people have been killed in Lebanon by Israeli strikes since March 2, Lebanon's health ministry reported on Sunday (March 8), including at least 83 children and 42 women. The toll does not otherwise distinguish between combatants and civilians.
