L063-UCRANIA DEFENSOR PUEBLO NIEGA VIOLACION DERECHOS OLESKY
No violations were recorded during a six-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in southern Ukraine, Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said on Monday (November 2). Lubinets said Russian military equipment used in mine-clearance operations had been temporarily marked with Red Cross symbols in line with the agreement before returning to its previous positions. He credited U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and her team with helping facilitate the operation, adding that the mechanism could serve as a model for humanitarian missions in other settlements facing crises.

“What we achieved in Oleshky is, in my view, a potential mechanism that we can apply to other settlements where our citizens are currently living under similar conditions. That is to say, we have a humanitarian catastrophe not only in Oleshky.”

“You can only imagine the state of Oleshky: half-destroyed buildings, trapped people, no electricity, no water, no heating. Therefore, once again, what shocks me are the consequences of Russian aggression.”
