Iran will not allow the United States to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz, the spokesperson for Iran’s military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said in a statement on Monday (July 13).

Any attempt by the U.S. army to arrange transit through the strait outside the paths designated by Tehran and without coordination with Iran's armed forces will be strongly resisted, said the video statement aired on state media.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday the United States would probably take over the waterway and should be reimbursed for controlling the vital shipping route, after Iran announced the strait's closure over the weekend.

U.S. and Iranian forces exchanged missile and drone attacks on Monday and clashed over control over the strait, casting doubt on the viability of an interim deal to halt their war and driving oil prices higher.
