L062-LIBANO DESPLAZADOS
ifty-year-old Mustafa Ibrahim al-Sayyed, displaced with his family from the southern Lebanese village of Beit Lif, is now sheltering in a school in the city of Tyre that has been converted into a refuge for displaced families.
"The situation is still very bad," the father of eleven told Reuters on Monday (March 30), adding that no one knew what would happen next.
Alwan Sharafeddine, deputy head of Tyre municipality, said more than 20,000 people have been displaced across the Tyre governorate.
Lebanon was sucked into the war in the Middle East on March 2, when the Shi'ite Muslim group Hezbollah opened fire in support of Iran, igniting an Israeli offensive that has killed more than 1,200 people in Lebanon and displaced over 1 million.
More than 370,000 children have been forced from their homes in Lebanon in just three weeks, as intensified Israeli strikes and mass evacuation orders trigger one of the fastest and largest population displacements in the country's history, UN officials said on Friday (March 27).

As you know, in shelters, we have about 4,000 displaced people in 13 shelters, and there are 17,000 people who were displaced from outside the city of Tyre. Those who are steadfast in Tyre, are still in their homes, in their houses. We as the Tyre municipality, are working to deliver them aid food to their homes, which are essential for their resilience so they can remain steadfast and stay in their homes."
