IRÁN. OPirtaviz de exteriores asegura que el posible acuerdo no es inminente

STORY: Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said in a weekly briefing on Monday (May 25) that a conclusion had been reached on many topics, but that didn't mean that "the signing of an agreement is imminent."

The spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, added that Iran was negotiating an end to the war and was not currently discussing nuclear issues, and repeated that changes in the positions of U.S. officials created problems for any agreement.

The potential memorandum of understanding contains 14 points and is focused on ending the war and the U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, in exchange for Iran taking steps to ensure safe transit through the strategic waterway, he said.

Both Iran and the United States played down hopes for an imminent breakthrough in efforts to end their three-month-old war on Monday,

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters in New Delhi that the U.S. would give diplomacy every chance to succeed before exploring "alternatives," after President Donald Trump said on Sunday he had told his representatives not to rush into any Iran deal.
