French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Elysee on Monday (August 24) for a meeting.

Macron's office said ahead of the visit the two leaders were expected to discuss the tensions in the Middle East.

The two previously met at the closing ceremony of the Esports World Cup on Sunday (August 23) at the Grand Palais in Paris.

It was the first time the event has been staged outside Saudi Arabia, where the first two editions were held in Riyadh.
