At least three students were killed and seven others injured when two students, aged 15 and 14, opened fire at a school in Tacloban City, southeast of Manila, police said on Monday (June 22).

"There were a total of ten victims, three deceased, all minors and another three were wounded directly because of the shooting, and four others were wounded when they were panicked," Philippine National Police spokesperson Allen Rae Co told reporters. One suspect was arrested immediately after the attack while the other later surrendered, authorities said.

Police said the suspects, both students at the same school, have been taken into custody and turned over to social welfare authorities.

"We've taken custody of the two CICL (Children in Conflict with the Law) suspects. An alias 'Rod', 15-years-old, also a student of the same school. And alias 'Nash', 14-years-old, also of the same school," Co said.

Initial interviews indicated the pair had allegedly been subjected to bullying since seventh grade.

Authorities recovered 40 spent shell casings from the scene and said the weapons used were a 9 mm Gloc pistol and a .38-caliber revolver.

"Upon verification, the 9 mm Gloc belongs or was issued to a police woman. The subject police woman is now under investigation and placed under custody of the regional police office," Co said. Police are also tracing the origin of the revolver, which is registered to a security agency in Cebu City.
