STORY: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy attended a defence forum on Sunday (August 24) with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as Kyiv seeks to deepen defence cooperation with allied nations ahead of a possible peace deal with Russia to end the war.

Carney was shown some of Ukraine's latest advancements of weapons and military equipment production.

The meeting, held on Ukraine’s Independence Day, included defence ministers and senior officials from a number of European countries and Canada. Attendees represented nations including Denmark, Sweden, Britain, as well as the Baltic states.

During discussions at the forum, Zelenskiy expressed his gratitude to the visiting officials and their respective governments for their support to Ukraine since the onset of Russia's 2022 invasion.
