U.S. President Donald Trump mixed with senior administration officials, political allies and family members on Sunday (August 23) as he attended IndyCar's inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington.

During the event Trump spoke with Attorney General Todd Blanche, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and House Speaker Mike Johnson, as well as meeting with the chairperson of the Penske Corporation, Roger Penske.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump later watched the race from a VIP box overlooking the track. Among those seen at the venue were White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, UFC President Dana White, Senator John Barrasso, Trump's son Eric Trump and Melania Trump's father, Viktor Knavs.

IndyCar's Freedom 250 Grand Prix will zoom through the National Mall, past the U.S. Capitol, down historic Pennsylvania Avenue and around the National Archives, with the marquee event on Sunday afternoon. The race is expected to draw roughly 200,000 spectators, officials said, and tickets are free. Passes to private trackside clubs sold for $5,000.
