Israel's military said that its air defense systems had intercepted missiles launched from Iran on Sunday night, as air raid sirens sounded in multiple areas in northern Israel

According to local media, Israel plans to deliver a strong response to Iran's attack.

The attack came after Israel carried out deadly airstrikes on the Lebanese capital of Beirut earlier in the day.

Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, posted on social media on Sunday, saying that Iran has repeatedly stated that it will not tolerate violations of the ceasefire and aggression against Lebanon.

He noted that the response is a warning, and any new hostile operations towards Iran will be met with stronger counterattacks and heavier costs.

Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed in a statement on Sunday that it targeted Israel's Ramat David Airbase with ballistic missiles in response to its "widespread crimes" in Lebanon.

According to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency, Chief Commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Ali Abdollahi said Sunday night that if Israel expands its attacks on southern Lebanon and the Dahieh district south of Beirut, or responds to Iran's actions, it will face more "crushing and regret-inducing blows."
