US President Donald Trump capped his midterm campaign rally schedule on Sunday (November 1) with a rally in Salina, Kansas, urging supporters to turn out to vote as Republicans seek to retain control of Congress.

Trump told supporters he had traveled "far and wide" over the previous two weeks and said voter turnout would be key to Republican success.

"This is our last stop. We close it down tonight," Trump said. "Get out and vote. Because if you do, we're going to have a tremendous success."

Trump used the rally to announce that mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would invest $4.3 billion in Kansas mortgages next year, which he said would help about 15,000 homebuyers in the state.

The president was joined by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who is seeking re-election in Kansas.

Burgum praised Trump's midterm campaign effort, calling it harder work than that of any previous president, while Rubio said Trump had made Americans safer and strengthened the country's position abroad.
