L006-LIBANO BOMBARDEOS EJERCITO ISRAELI
Israel said on Monday (March 2) it had launched offensive airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, escalating its military campaign as tensions with Iran-backed forces intensified following Tehran's missile attacks on Israel. Monochrome footage released by the Israeli military showed what it described as strikes on "Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon". Israel's Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, said the army had launched an offensive campaign against Hezbollah. The violence widened the conflict that has spread through the Middle East since the United States and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday (February 28). Hezbollah, a Shi'ite Muslim group established by Iran's Revolutionary Guards in 1982, is one of Tehran's principal allies in the Middle East. Reuters was not able to independently verify the location or the date when the videos were filmed. No older version of the videos were found posted online before Monday (March 2).
