STORY: The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed on Sunday (November 1) that a jet believed to be carrying nine people crashed into a residential Florida neighborhood.

According to the FAA statement, the crash occurred in early afternoon after the Lear jet had departed Texas, en route to the Bahamas.

The statement said that the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will launch an investigation.

First responders were on the scene in Palm Beach County, and local authorities asked residents to avoid the area.
