Centrist senator Rodrigo Paz, from the Christian Democratic Party, was leading the presidential elections in Bolivia on Sunday (August 17), as first official results revealed he obtained 32.18% of the votes.

These results indicate that the elections would be decided in a second round on October 19, if no candidate obtains more than 40% of the votes with a 10-percentage-point advantage. The full official results will be reported within seven days.
