Emergency responders carried injured residents from the rubble of damaged buildings in Ukraine's port city of Odesa on Monday (April 6) after a Russian drone attack killed three people, including a child, and left others trapped beneath the debris, the regional governor said.

The overnight strike hit residential buildings, critical infrastructure and administrative facilities in Ukraine's largest port, with rescue teams working through the night and into daylight to pull survivors from the wreckage, video from Ukraine’s emergency service showed, as Russia escalated its attacks on the key Black Sea logistics hub.

Reuters was able to verify the location from building exteriors, including shape of balcony and windows, that matched file and satellite imagery. Reuters could not confirm the date; however, no older version of the video was found posted online before April 6. Coordinates of the damaged building are: 46.40602134556591, 30.70598040926914. Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that Odesa suffered a massive attack overnight.

With the war now in its fifth year, Moscow has escalated its attacks on Odesa, a key logistics hub in southern Ukraine and the country's largest port, handling the majority of the Ukrainian grain and other maritime exports.
