L005-RUSIA VIAJE MINISTRO EXTERIORES IRANÍ MOSCÚ
Discussions on bilateral ties and regional issues, including the Iran-U.S. conflict, will be held with Russian officials during a visit to St Petersburg, Iran’s foreign minister said on Monday (April 27), as he landed in Russia to seek support from President Vladimir Putin.

Abbas Araqchi said recent consultations in Pakistan had reviewed conditions under which Iran-U.S. talks could resume, stressing that Tehran would seek to secure its rights and national interests following weeks of conflict.
He also said Iran and Oman, as coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, had agreed to continue expert-level consultations to ensure safe transit and protect shared interests in the waterway.
Hopes of reviving peace efforts receded on Saturday (April 25) when Trump scrapped a visit to Islamabad by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Araqchi shuttled to and from mediators Pakistan and Oman on Sunday (April 26) before flying to Russia, with the two sides still seemingly far apart on issues including Iran's nuclear ambitions and access through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

“Pakistan is playing an important mediating role in the negotiations between Iran and the United States. It was necessary to have a review of the latest situation. In any case, developments have occurred in the negotiations; the Americans’ approaches caused the previous round of talks, despite the progress that had been made, not to reach its objectives. The excessive demands they made and the incorrect approaches they adopted. It was necessary for us to have consultations with our friends in Pakistan to examine the latest situation.”
