L005-EEUU OSCAR BARDEM NO A LA GUERRA
STORY: Spanish actor Javier Bardem wore a pin that said ‘NO A LA GUERRA’, meaning ‘No to War’ at the Oscars on Sunday (March 15) and another reading ‘Free Palestine’.
While presenting the award for best international film, he said ’No to war and free Palestine’, to applause from the crowd.
Earlier on the red carpet he told Reuters more about his views on the conflict.
“I use this badge in year 2003 with the illegal war of Iraq and we are in the same position 23 years after, we are killing innocent people with lies by bombing them with with a purpose created by a lie,” he said.
Also giving her view on global politics was director Ava DuVernay, saying, "This is the time we need to lean in to talk about politics and realize that politics is the atmosphere, it's the ambiance. It's everything. No one's unaffected. So if you have something to say and you know how to say it, say it."

That's kind of what it feels like. You can't imagine the shock. It's so nutty."

And I think it's going to be a good moment, you know, but we're honoring the film editors, which I think is something that a lot of actors are very, very supportive of, editors, they save their life. You know, the actors performance is made by the editors. So we'll get to celebrate that, get to hang together for a long time tonight."
