Floodwaters inundated parts of southern China's Guangxi region after Typhoon Narra brought days of heavy rain, CCTV footage showed on Monday (August 24).

State broadcaster CCTV said about 54,000 people had been relocated in Guangxi, including 8,087 transferred to emergency shelters.

Drone footages from Chongzuo city showed muddy floodwaters covering streets and surrounding low-rise buildings. Emergency workers used boats to carry out rescue operations in flooded areas as rising waters forced evacuations.

In Ningming County, workers were seen dredging river channels as part of flood-control efforts.

Narra lingered over the Beibu Gulf without making landfall, but continued to bring heavy rainfall to southern China, with more downpours forecast for Guangxi and nearby provinces.
