Russia's Defence Ministry said on Sunday (August 9) that its drone operators carried out strikes that destroyed surface infrastructure at the Bugrovatoye gas field in Ukraine, alleging the site was being used to support Ukraine's armed forces.

In a video obtained by Reuters, aerial footage of what looks like oil fields in the Sumy region of Ukraine coming under attack from explosions could be observed.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from buildings, infrastructure, colour of the field and road layout that matched satellite imagery. The date was not verified but no older footage was posted online before August 9.

The regional governor of Sumy, Oleh Hryhorov, said on the Telegram messaging app on Monday (August 10) that at least five people were injured by Russian bomb strikes on Ukraine's northern city of Sumy, flagging damage in a number of residential areas.
