L004-IRAN CALLES TEHERAN HOY
Streets in Tehran were quiet on Monday (March 2) with many storefronts shuttered and limited pedestrian activity, following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday (February 28). Large billboards displaying Khamenei's portrait were visible prominently across the city, as vehicles drove in near-empty streets and retail establishments shuttered their storefronts. U.S. and Israel coordinated strikes on Iran over the weekend which killed Khamenei. Israel launched a new wave of strikes on the Iranian capital on Sunday (March 1) and Iran responded with more missile barrages, pitching the Middle East and the global economy into deepening uncertainty.
