L003-VENEZUELA CORINA ASISTE MISA
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado attended mass at a church in western Lara state on Sunday (October 25) after returning to Venezuela.
Her return followed several failed attempts that strained her ties with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
Machado was seen kneeling in prayer during the service, and she greeted people who attended the mass.
She then travelled to Caracas by road. The journey took eight hours because of crowds, and tens of thousands of cheering supporters greeted her along the way on Sunday night.
Machado's return was coordinated with the US, Panamanian and Colombian governments, according to a person briefed directly on her movements, who added Trump approved her return and was kept informed about it.
