Emergency rescuers pulled survivors from the rubble in Venezuela, seen in video released on Sunday (June 28), four days after two powerful earthquakes struck the country, freeing at least one trapped victim and carrying them to safety on a makeshift stretcher.

The footage, released by the Bolivian National Police via Instagram, showed officers working to free survivors still buried beneath collapsed structures.

Reuters was not able to verify the exact location and date when the video was taken but no older version of the video was found posted online before June 28, 2026. Emergency workers in the video were wearing uniforms that matched uniforms worn by the Bolivarian National Police.

The death toll from the June 24 twin earthquakes neared 1,500 people as foreign rescue teams poured into La Guaira, the hardest-hit state of a country long mired in a deep political and economic crisis.

Tens of thousands remained unaccounted for as the U.S. Geological Survey estimated more than 10,000 deaths were possible from the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 quakes, which would place them among Latin America's deadliest of the last century.
