STORY: Powerful waves battered beachfront homes in Long Beach, California, on Sunday (October 11), as high surf pounded parts of the Southern California coastline.

In Oceanside, drone footage showed large waves crashing ashore as residents watched from the waterfront and cars drove along nearby coastal roads.

The National Weather Service had warned of hazardous surf and possible coastal flooding along parts of Southern California, with high tides and swells associated with Tropical Storm Rachel expected to bring the greatest impacts on Sunday.
