NEUILLY-SUR-SEINE, FRANCIA

Michael Jackson's gloves from the Bad tour, his hat and sequined jacket from the Victory tour, and a pillow embellished with crystals are among 50 memorabilia items from the late singer that will go under the hammer near Paris on June 3.

The sale, one of the most significant auctions dedicated to the King of Pop ever held in Europe, brings together clothing, stage costumes, accessories, autographs and three drawings by the singer.

All the pieces come from the collection of Norwegian collector Richard Fossaas, who spent decades acquiring Jackson memorabilia. They are now held within a major U.S. private collection.

Notable items include a Swarovski‑encrusted glove worn during performances of “Billie Jean” on the Bad Tour, estimated at 100,000 to 150,000 euros ($117, 143 to $175, 715), a hat from the 1984 Victory Tour and costumes linked to iconic music videos, such as “Scream.”

Ahead of the auction, the items will be shown to the public during an exhibition at Aguttes auction house in Neuilly‑sur‑Seine, near Paris, on May 30, June 1 and June 2.

Interest in Jackson's life has been renewed recently with the release of “Michael,” a biopic due to hit cinemas worldwide on Friday (April 24).

We also have personal shirts, as well as really iconic items, as we say, which can simply be a jacket that he wore on the tour of the Bad tour. We also have the gloves that he wore, a right-hand glove.”

“So Michael Jackson may like fashion, but it's not fashion, it's stage costume, and that's really the difference. Here, we have a reflection on how the artist will be able to express himself through the clothes, through his movements, and that's the same example of a stage costume reflection on the prototype of the Pepsi clip.”
