J070-LIBANO FUNERALES OK
Mourners at one funeral in central Beirut gathered quietly on Thursday (April 9) to bury a man who had been killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut’s Tallet el Khayat neighbourhood the day before.
His wife had survived the bombing, which sheared off half the building and left survivors trapped on upper floors for hours.
Israel carried out on Wednesday (April 8) its heaviest strikes on Lebanon since the conflict with Hezbollah broke out last month, killing more than 250 people, according to the Lebanese civil defence service, as the Iran-aligned group resumed rocket attacks on northern Israel after a brief pause under the two-week U.S.-Iran ceasefire.
Lebanon declared a day of national mourning and shut state offices.
