Smoke and fire was seen near Iran's South Pars gas field in Bushehr Province in footage captured by an eyewitness on Wednesday (March 18) following an Israeli airstrike.
Reuters confirmed the location from the road layout, lighthouse, electric pylons, and ship model. Reuters could not confirm the date of footage, however Iran's Fars news agency reported that gas tanks and parts of a refinery had been hit and state media later said the fire there was under control.
No older versions of the video were found before March 18. Coordinates of the structures under fire was seen from 27.525170402738087, 52.572015374827416. NASA FIRMS detected thermal activity in the vicinity on March 18. Iranian gas flows to Iraq were halted on March 18 following an attack on Iran's Pars gas field, a senior Iraqi official told Reuters.
U.S. President Donald Trump said an angry Israel "violently lashed out" and attacked the major gas field, but ruled out further such attacks by Israel unless Iran retaliated.

U.S. President Donald Trump said late on March 18 the attack on Iran's South Pars gas field was carried out by Israel, and the U.S. and Qatar were not involved in it.
"The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

5. SCREENSHOT OF POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITE "TRUTH SOCIAL" BY U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, READING (English):
"Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran. A relatively small section of the whole has been hit. The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen. Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion of Qatar’s LNG Gas facility. NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar - In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before. I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar’s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"
Russia calls for 'safety island' around Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant
A senior Russian official called on Thursday (March 19) for the creation of a safety zone around Iran's Russian-built Bushehr nuclear plant to prevent a major disaster, two days after a projectile struck within several hundred meters of its reactor.
Alexei Likhachev, head of state nuclear corporation Rosatom, said there were 72 tons of fissile material and 210 tons of spent nuclear fuel at the site, and that any strike on it could lead to a catastrophe.

Iran’s armed forces warned on Thursday (March 19) that any further attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure would trigger “far stronger retaliation,” according to a televised statement by a military spokesperson.
Khatam al-Anbia base spokesperson, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, said Iranian forces had already carried out retaliatory strikes, setting fire to oil facilities described as U.S. interests in the region, and stressed that Iran’s response was ongoing.
He added that Iranian missile and drone attacks had targeted several U.S. military bases in the Gulf.

European Union leaders were seeking quick fixes at a summit on Thursday (March 19) to curb a surge in energy prices caused by the Iran war.
European countries scrambled to cushion the impact of soaring oil prices after tit-for-tat strikes on Gulf energy plants, including the world's largest gas plant in Qatar - the most economically significant escalation of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.
