Ecuador police confiscated 370 kilograms of cocaine in the northern Carchi province on Tuesday (August 11), the country’s national police said.

The drugs, packaged with the image of Manchester City and Norway national team striker Erling Haaland, were being transported concealed in a false bottom fitted to a lorry-type vehicle, the police said.

A woman of Colombian-Ecuadorian nationality with no previous criminal record was arrested, the police added.

According to information provided by the police investigative unit, the substance seized is part of a large-scale operation, with an estimated value of more than $800,000 on the domestic market.

“We proceeded to inspect a hidden double-bottomed compartment in the lorry, which contained controlled substances: approximately 370 rectangular packages presumed to contain a controlled substance. Following preliminary field tests, the drugs tested positive for cocaine, weighing approximately 370,000 grams (370 kilogrammes). This operation removed approximately 7.7 million doses from the market, to the benefit of the public.”
