J053-GAZA VÍCTIMAS ÚLTIMOS ATAQUES
Palestinians gathered on Thursday (August 14) at Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City, bidding farewell to loved ones who, according to medics, were killed on Wednesday (August 13) in Israeli fire while seeking aid.
Mourners prayed over shrouded bodies, some sat crying over relatives killed in what one Palestinian described as "death aid".
Israel has regularly said it takes steps to avoid hitting civilians. Israel says it is seeking to eliminate militants from Hamas, which attacked southern Israel from Gaza in 2023, and free hostages still held by the group.
Hamas rejects Israeli accusations that it steals aid and accuses Israel of using aid as a weapon against the Gaza population.
Responding to international outrage sparked by images of starving Gazans, Israel on July 27 announced measures to let more aid into Gaza. But aid agencies say only a fraction of what they send is getting in. Israel strongly denies limiting aid supplies.
The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, according to Israeli figures.
Israel's offensive against Hamas in Gaza since then has killed more than 61,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials.
