J048-UCRANIA ATAQUE RUSO LEOPOLIS

30 de julio 2026 - 17:56

Lviv, Ucrania

Russian missiles struck apartment blocks in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv overnight, damaging 21 residential buildings, destroying two almost completely and leaving people feared trapped under rubble, local officials said on Thursday (July 30).

The attack was part of a nationwide Russian barrage involving more than 70 missiles and about 280 drones, with Lviv and the capital Kyiv among the main targets, according to Ukrainian authorities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the overnight attacks killed nine people in Ukraine, and delays in supplies of air defence missiles from allies were costing lives.

Russia's defence ministry said its forces had struck what it called military facilities across Ukraine, from Kyiv to Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk, as well as three cargo ships.

Lviv Deputy Mayor Andrii Moskalenko said 34 people were injured, including 13 who remained in hospital, one of them in critical condition. He added that rescuers were searching for two people believed to be trapped beneath the debris on Paton Street.

“We have a very close-knit group of neighbours in our building. Whenever there’s an air raid alert, we always go down to the first floor and unlock the metal entrance door so we can get out if necessary. At first, we heard the sound of a missile. Then we heard an explosion. The electricity went out immediately; there was a lot of smoke and the smell of burning. We started shouting, 'Everyone, run out into the street!' Thank God the door was open. We pushed it open - some debris was blocking it. We couldn’t see a thing - not even the flashlight on my phone could penetrate the darkness.”
