J045-VENEZUELA MADURO SOBRE EEUU Y TAYLOR SWIFT

06 de noviembre 2025 - 17:12

Caracas, Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Tuesday (November 4) that American media coverage has made him "more famous than Taylor Swift" in the United States, joking that he might even record an album to fund community projects.

Speaking at a Venezuelan Socialist Party (PSUV) event broadcast on state television, Maduro told supporters: "I'm more famous than Taylor Swift in the U.S. right now, than Karol G. I'm more famous than Bad Bunny." The president went on to suggest he could release music under the name "Super Bigote" (Super Moustache), asking attendees to help him write songs while claiming he sings well.

The remarks came amid escalating tensions between Caracas and Washington following a significant U.S. military deployment to the Caribbean. Maduro expressed surprise at seeing his image regularly featured on Fox News and CNN, telling the crowd: "I am amazed to see my photo... and I say, 'Damn, how far have you come, Nico?'"

The Trump administration has stated that the U.S. military operation in the Caribbean -- which includes warships, fighter jets, and thousands of troops -- aims to combat drug trafficking. However, Maduro maintains it is a covert attempt to overthrow his government and exert political pressure on Venezuela.
