Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday (September 30) it was too early to say who was behind the foiled bid to crash a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv but that Israel would "possibly" be participating in the probe into the incident.

Netanyahu's comments were in response to a question about whether there was any indication of Iranian involvement in the incident, during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on the network's "Hannity" program.

Passengers on the flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv reached Israel safely on Wednesday after customers and crew foiled a co-pilot's attempt to crash the aircraft, Israeli officials said, in a struggle that began when he stabbed the pilot and sent the jet plunging nearly 14,000 feet (4,267 m) in less than 30 seconds.

Passengers and crew entered the cockpit, overpowered the co-pilot and enabled a second pair of flydubai pilots who were aboard the flight to land the jet ‌safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, according to Israeli officials.

"Well, look, on a flight from Dubai to Israel, as they were approaching Israel, there was an attack by one of the pilots against the other pilot. Apparently he stabbed him, or he hit him with an axe. He was bleeding profusely. The plane began to go out of control, and began to nosedive."

4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER, BENJAMIN NETANYAHU, SAYING:

“Well, it's too early to say. The attacking pilot is now being investigated in Saudi Arabia. I think he'll be taken to the Emirates where he comes from, or at least where he left, where he flew off from. And we'll be following and possibly also participating in this investigation. So we'll find out.”

“Now you have the possibility of having another 911 and an Israeli passenger, a civilian.... I met this guy. He's an incredible hero. Look at what he did under impossible circumstances. I spoke earlier today with President Trump, who really was appreciative of this. And he said, you know, when a plane is nosediving, the passengers, including 30 children, are already saying their prayers, they know they're gone from this world, and this young man just acts with incredible, incredible, heroism and saves the day, along with the Indian pilot who was there and the others who came to help.”
