North Korean students commemorated the 76th anniversary of the Korean War on Wednesday (June 24), featuring posters and banners of anti-U.S. slogans, state media reported on Thursday (June 25).

Video provided by North Korea's official news agency KCNA, which Reuters cannot independently verify, showed students holding a rally and chanting at the Youth Park open-air theatre in Pyongyang, holding posters and banners with slogans such as, “Let us take a thousandfold revenge on the U.S. imperialist murderers!”

The Korean War started on June 25, 1950, when Communist North Korean troops launched a surprise attack across the 38th parallel into South Korea.

U.S.-led United Nations forces battled Chinese and Soviet-backed North Korea in the war which killed three million soldiers and civilians, and left five million refugees. North and South Korea are still technically at war since the conflict ended in a truce without a peace treaty.
