J007-EEUU TRUMP PAZ INMINENTE
STORY: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (June 3) that progress in talks with Iran could come within days and that Washington expects to secure Tehran’s enriched uranium stockpile under a potential deal.
“I hear the negotiation itself is going very well,” Trump told reporters at the White House, adding an agreement “could happen over the weekend,” though he cautioned it might not.
Trump said that, if a deal is reached, “we will get it, and we will destroy it,” referring to Iran’s enriched uranium, a key sticking point in negotiations.
Trump told reporters he would prefer to avoid risking U.S. personnel during any conflict.
Trump also said the United States was attempting to keep the Iran negotiations distinct from other regional tensions, including hostilities involving Israel and Hezbollah. He indicated there had been recent contacts aimed at de-escalation.
“We’re trying to separate it,” Trump said. “It’s a very different kind of a thing.”

2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:
“Because we took a strong action for a different reason. So they (Iran) were reciprocating it. I hear the negotiation itself is going very well, actually. Very well. I mean, if it happens. It might not happen, you know. Who knows? But if it happens, it could happen like over the weekend.”

4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, SAYING:
“But as it stands now, we will go in sometime in the not too distant future. It's very safe down there. You know, we have Space Force. We have cameras. Every angle of those three sides are being watched at all times. If anybody went there, we'll see exactly what's happening and we'll blow it up a little bit further. But as far as getting it (enriched uranium) is very, the B-2 bombers did a job like nobody's ever seen. In the night, with no moon, dead darkness, at 1:00 in the morning or so, they dropped those bombs. The biggest, just about as big a bomb as you can ever find. And it went down air shoots. It was hard to believe that they can do the technology. It followed a beam right into the air shoots, right, exploded. Very hard to get that material, but I still nevertheless want it. And, I don't want to do it if we're in conflict. I don't want to put men in that kind of danger. I remember Jimmy Carter had some bad problems in Iran with the hostages. I don't want to ever put our people in that kind of danger. But when it's over, as of this moment, it's agreed that we will go in with them. We will get it, and we will destroy it. It will be destroyed.”

6. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, IN EXCHANGE WITH OFF-CAMERA REPORTER, SAYING:
REPORTER: “Is it possible to get to a deal with Iran, whether to go in and do that or to open up the Strait of Hormuz without seeing an Israeli cessation of their hostilities in Lebanon?”
TRUMP: “We're trying to separate it. I mean, look, it's a very different kind of a thing. We actually spoke with Hezbollah for the first time ever. We didn't know they spoke. And, they agreed yesterday they're not going to shoot. Israel is not going to shoot. We are just going to see. But I'd like to separate it, I'd like to have a separate thing, because it is separate.”
