Former hostages and families of those still held in Gaza burst into celebration at Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square on Thursday (October 9), as news broke of a breakthrough in the Trump-brokered deal.

Natalie Zangauker, sister of captive Matan Zangauker, popped a bottle of champagne as crowds around her cheered.

Einav Zangauker, protest leader and mother of Matan, wept as she hugged former hostage Omer Shem Tov.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (October 8) that Israel and Hamas had reached a long-sought deal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release under his plan for ending the two-year-old war in the Palestinian enclave.
