STORY: Three people were found dead as rescuers battled to extricate students from the rubble of an under-construction Islamic school building that collapsed earlier this week in Indonesia's province of East Java, bringing the death toll to six.

Late on Wednesday (October 1), Yudhi Bramantyo, operation director at the Indonesian SAR agency, said rescuers also pulled out five survivors.

The agency declined to say how many people were still missing after the search operation. Another agency, for disaster and mitigation, has said 91 people were listed as missing, with 100 evacuated and dozens injured.

The building collapsed on Monday (September 29) during the students' late afternoon prayers in a mosque on a lower floor. The building's upper floors were under construction at the time of the incident.
