Caracas, Venezuela

Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez said on Wednesday (January 7) that her country is open to energy partnerships with other nations, emphasizing that the South American country possesses some of the world's largest oil and gas reserves.

Rodriguez made the remarks during a meeting with members of the National Assembly in Caracas, saying the country is willing to establish respectful relations through commercial agreements that comply with international law.

Rodriguez has begun appointing officials to key positions within the Venezuelan executive branch, focusing on security and economic sectors during her second day as acting president.

Rodriguez assumed the role following the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores by the United States.
