D032-FILIPINAS LLEGADA TIFÓN
Typhoon Fung-wong has made landfall in the northern Philippines, state weather agency PAGASA said on Sunday (November 9).
In its latest bulletin, the weather agency said the centre of Fung-wong made landfall over the town of Dinalungan in Aurora province at 1310GMT.
In Isabela province, which lies northwest of Aurora Province, heavy winds and rains were lashing the city of Cauayan, cutting power in some areas, a Reuters witness said.
At least two people died in the Philippines as Fung-wong lashed the central and eastern parts of the country, with heavy rains and strong winds cutting power in large areas of the Bicol region ahead of its landfall. More than a million people have been evacuated before the typhoon's landfall.
With winds of 185 kph (115 mph) and gusts of up to 230 kph (140 mph), Fung-wong is expected to traverse the northern and central regions of the Philippines' main island of Luzon Sunday night and is expected to leave the landmass on Monday (November 10).
