STORY: A wildfire broke out on the Croatian island of Korcula on Saturday (July 11), burning through woodland before overnight rains brought respite.

Fire crews on the island called in backup from the mainland and from Canadair water bombers.

Firefighting efforts continued into Sunday (July 12). Local media reported that while the blaze was not full extinguished, the situation was under control. There were no reports of casualties.
