"It really was a wonderful Oktoberfest for people, 16 days of almost uninterrupted good weather, and it has in fact reached an all-time high. A new record has been set with 7.4 million visitors, although that was never our goal. It simply turned out that way. The Oktoberfest is so popular, and I am particularly pleased that visitors were spread out more evenly. Thanks to our information campaign, more people came during the week, at lunchtime and in the afternoon. We saw significant increases of around 25% on weekdays.”

"For many people, Munich's Oktoberfest is simply on their bucket list. It is something you have to see once and experience once in your lifetime. It is indeed a unique festival where people come together and celebrate peacefully, where people meet and simply enjoy a good time together. Especially at a time when there are many wars around the world and the economy is a little weak, I think it is an event where people can simply let go and enjoy themselves. And yes, they are allowed to let their hair down a bit.”

"My personal highlight is being able to come here from time to time, having good weather, good beer and simply enjoying being here. Even today on a Sunday, it seems less crowded than on other days. Weekdays are naturally even better, especially if you can come on a Tuesday for Family Day and simply enjoy the atmosphere.”

20. (SOUNDBITE) (German) VISITOR FROM GERMANY’S RHINELAND REGION, ALEXANDRA STELZER, SAYING:

"We travelled here from the Rhineland. We spent a day here yesterday walking around the festival grounds, and today we're trying the beer gardens and beer tents. We generally prefer Sunday because it is mainly the locals who are here. We hope most of the tourists have already left. The weather is fantastic and we think the festival is absolutely wonderful.”
