STORY: Police said there was little information about who carried out a shooting in the Swiss town of Aarau early on Sunday (August 30) but added it was thought they were no longer in the area.

The shooting at a rave left one person dead and five others wounded, some seriously.

Police spokesperson Bernhard Graser said it was unknown whether the perpetrator acted alone or if there was a group. Investigations at the site are ongoing he said.

A large police presence was active in the area to respond if necessary, Graser said.

All the victims are Swiss residents and in their 20s, police said, adding a manhunt was underway and large areas of the town had been cordoned off. They appealed to the public for any images of the incident.

"Right after the emergency call we responded with a lot of units, right here in the area and in the whole state (canton). Right after, we made an alarm call to the whole department, almost the whole department is here on the scene and in the whole state at work."

"The scene of the crime was a large space here in Aarau where a rave festival was taking place. At 2:30 (0030GMT) we received several calls about gunshots that were fired, and we responded with a lot of forces. And at the scene we saw that there were six victims, one of them was unfortunately dead."
