After holding a private meeting with Netanyahu, Merz and his team held a meeting with Netanyahu and his team. The two leaders are expected to deliver statement later on Sunday.
Merz arrived in Israel on Saturday (December 6) when he met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem and said that he hoped the Gaza peace process could enter the next phase.
Germany on Wednesday (December 3) became the first European nation to deploy the Israeli-made Arrow air defence system, built to intercept intermediate-range ballistic missiles such as Russia's Oreshnik, as it seeks to counter what it sees as a growing threat from Moscow.
