STORY: People in Indian-administered Kashmir took to the streets to protest against the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, on Sunday (March 1).

Protesters, carrying flags, thronged the iconic clock tower at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk city square.

“Everything we had is gone, it's all over,” said one protester. Another protester, visibly moved, cried, “Oh God, the leader of the oppressed has been killed.”

Khamenei was killed on Saturday (February 28), aged 86, Iranian state media announced, in air strikes by Israel and the U.S. that pulverised his central Tehran compound, after decades of efforts to resolve the dispute over Iran's nuclear program diplomatically failed.
