STORY: Argentina's President Javier Milei turned out to vote on Sunday (October 26) in a midterm election seen as a test of his economic overhaul agenda in Congress.

Milei voted at a Buenos Aires polling station, where dozens of supporters greeting him with chants of "President."

Argentina holds parliamentary mid-term elections in which the libertarian president's party is seeking to strengthen its position and avoid roll-backs of his fiscal austerity program and private-sector reform agenda - policies that the Trump administration supports.

The United States earlier this month purchased Argentine pesos and finalised a $20 billion currency swap framework with Argentina's central bank after a meeting between the two countries' top finance officials in Washington.
