STORY: Footage filmed by a live streamer on Saturday (October 25) showed local residents in Jamaica making preparations and speaking about evacuating, as Hurricane Melissa creeps toward the island.

One person wearing a police uniform, who did not provide his name, said it was "very hard" getting local residents to evacuate to shelters. "We'll try our best."

Melissa is expected to be a major hurricane when making landfall in Jamaica Monday (October 27) night or Tuesday (October 28) morning, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Reuters was able to confirm that buildings and waterbody match with file and satellite images. Reuters was able to confirm the date by Reuter’s coverage and corroborating reports on Hurricane Melissa approaching.
